Reviews
I headed to @bikestopcafe for their entry into the @rifoodfights #lordofthewings challenge. These wings are fancy and came out in their own cast iron skillets. They were out of the cast iron sticky wings last year so I was excited to try them. These wings are baked in their wood fired oven in a sweet Asian inspired sauce. And boy are they sticky! More importantly, they are good. Baked wings can be hit or miss with me but I found myself enjoying these. The sauce was sweet and tangy and I found myself wishing I had one mor, not because I was hungry, but just for the flavor. Another solid entry
This was the second stop on a South County Pizza excursion for the Lord of the pies event, definitely a quirky beachfront type of establishment. We walked in mid afternoon and were told they were in the middle of completing a 50 pie order and that there might be a delay in getting our pizzas; undeterred we settled in and ordered some drinks and ultimately Kyle, our waiter/bartender got our pizzas out to us within 20 minutes. The truffle was well received as was the Meatball too. Huge brick oven and I can imagine this place must be slammed during the summer months when all the rentals are filled. Definitely going to be an 'add' to my long term pizza guide I've got saved in my phone!
Went for lunch. Had a great grilled cheese with pulled pork sandwich with a side of French fries. Sandwich was very tasty and very filling. Could only eat half. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Had the leftovers for dinner that night. My Mom had pulled pork tacos, which really enjoyed. She ate both, which is unheard of for her.
Finally came here for something other than their breakfast buffet and it's safe to say I'll be coming back again soon! Especially to try one of their specials which they have so many throughout the week such as appy hour, one topping pizza with a beer for $15, etc. I ordered a blue moon ($6.50) and then their enormous pad Thai dinner ($17.75) with chicken (+$4). OMG, the portion was crazy but don't worry, I finished all of it (barely). I definitely recommend getting a meat with it because they're generous with that too. I got about 7 to 8 big, tender pieces of chicken. The dish had nice flavor and the noodles went down so easy. I love pad's chewy and moist rice noodles. My only advice to the dish is to add some more of that typical peanut-Thai flavor. It lacked that a little bit. What's even better is the dish came with a nice sized side salad and I like that they added extra things like shredded carrots, cucumber, Kalamata olives, tomatoes, etc. They have a full bar, not just beer and my server was really friendly and cool. I think his name was Kyle. I gotta try their pulled pork next. Kyle said they sear it in their pizza oven and then cook it for 12 hours with a bunch of add-ins. Just a couple minute walk from the water, this place is a must visit.
The Bike Stop Cafe continues to wow us with their creative and delicious menu. In addition to excellent pizza, sandwiches and burgers they have the best specials. Recently I had the Fish Taco Bowl. The combination of cabbage, cauliflower and chickpeas could have been a meal on its own. Topped with delicately battered and fried haddock, house made salsa and sliced avocado the dish was so satisfying!
